Upon first completion I felt that in christoppher I wouldn’t have read the book but with only a little over pages, many illustrations, the food for thought, and if the exercises become more fruitful over time, maybe it was worth it.
Not for everyone but a serious look into breaking down some belief systems and activating the emotional memory stored in the body – not for the feint of heart – I advise personal reflection and journaling to process.
I’m in the middle of reading it myself.

A polemic on materialism or on modern government? The author also has, what seems to me, a contrived edginess while also being cryptic of which he admits to. Well your topic was a great read! Sadly, most people will read this book without ever attempting to do the work, which is pointless. I was looking through SOWT again last night. A nifty collection of techniques designed to bring to surface the traumas of life and destroy self concepts the ego might indentify with.

Other parts of the book are intriguing. How much more “stuff” than numerous high dose psychedelic experiences? As time went on, the differences in their personalities and ways of thinking made it clear to Hyatt, at least that working together was impossible.

Within these pages you will find innumerable practical techniques to transform your life, served up with a large dose of humour and the stick of the Zen Roshi. What’s the rest of the book? Amazing work of Dr Hyatt on self-realization.
Undoing Yourself: With Energized Meditation and Other Devices by Christopher S. Hyatt
Fantastic experience and must be read for several times. If you feel the need for a bit more stimulation in your meditating, they are worth wiyh out. One of the best books on meditation, I think. I play on keeping this book around until I’ve worked my way completely through it. In due course I may write more on this subject, but for now Chritsopher just say this: In this case, the doing is undoing.
Books by Christopher S. With that being said it did have some interesting food for thought.
I think you’re right his writing can feel derivative of Bob, it’s also derivative of Nietzsche, Zen Riddle-format and has all these Regardie-isms littered throughout, which is no surprise. Far from practical, the book feels like a prank that the author takes very seriously.
Hyatt’s practice was very successful; Jack’s less so.
Though I am working on it and some of the “Other Devices” seem as though they will be quite useful too. Around Hyatt got in contact with Jack whose therapy practice was not doing well and tried once again to work with him. Still, his urgency and tone in parts is helpful for shifting people into gear.
I posted one of the topics you’re thinking of, but I’ve also seen it mentioned several times since then and I had never even heard of it until recently. Perhaps over time they will shine.
I posted a topic about my experiences with it so far a little over 2 weeks ago.
